چکیده

Renal microvascular disease is crucial to renal disease progression. Renal microvascular disease in late stage diabetic nephropathy is associated with defective angiogenesis and fails to respond to vasodilator treatment. Recognition of early renal microvascular disease is necessary, since in this stage, the vascular homeostasis is adequately functional and responsive to vasodilator treatment. Indices that can screen early renal microvascular disease include creatinine clearance or glomerular filtration rate, renal plasma flow or peritubular capillary flow and fractional excretion of magnesium (FE

Comparison of Diagnostic Value of Intrarenal Doppler Indices and Microalbuminuria for Detection of Diabetic Nephropathy in Type II Diabetic Patients

Background & Aims: Diabetes is the most common cause of renal insufficiency throughout the world. The main cause of renal failure in diabetic patients is microvascular endothelial injuries that is secondary to atherosclerosis and ischemia. The efficacy of renal Doppler indices such as resistive index (RI) and pulsetile index (PI) for the evaluation of intrarenal arteries has been shown. This st...

Abnormal renovascular resistance in dogs with diabetes mellitus: correlation with glycemic status and proteinuria

Present study was conducted with the objectives of determining the renal vascular resistance in dogs with diabetes mellitus and to study the correlation between the indices of renovascular resistance with glycemic status, systolic blood pressure (SBP) and proteinuria in dogs with diabetes mellitus. This study was conducted on seventeen diabetic dogs and ten apparently healthy dogs. Increa...

Early Renal Histological Changes in Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

Diabetes mellitus is a progressive disease. Most investigators have focused on glomerular changes in diabetic kidney and non-glomerular alterations have been less attended. The present study has been conducted to find early non-glomerular histological changes in diabetic renal tissue. Twenty male Wistar rats weighting 200-250 g were used for the diabetic group. Diabetes mellitus was induced by ...

Urine π-Glutathion S-transferase but not Tamm-Horsfall protein correlates with Carotid artery intima media thickness in childhood type1 diabetes

BACKGROUND Renal disease remains a serious threat in patients with insulin-dependent (type1) diabetes. Hence its detection early in the life of patients with type1 diabetes is crucial. Several lines of evidence suggest similar mechanisms for the development of both renal and arterial disease. We sought to investigate in young patients with type1 diabetes whether π-Glutathione S-transferase to c...

Study of ambulatory blood pressure in diabetic children: prediction of early renal insult

BACKGROUND Hypertension is a highly prevalent risk factor for cardiovascular disease in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Elevated blood pressure (BP) promotes the development and progression of microvascular complications, eg, nephropathy and retinopathy. The purpose of this study was to identify and detect early BP changes in diabetic children and adolescents, aiming for the early predi...
